A Different Mary Poppins
The Totally Tubular Festival this weekend was an enjoyable, creative, and delightful production. The theatre was filled with families, including many adults, all of whom could enjoy this musical. One small problem to consider is the slightly different version from the movie, which may unsettle younger children.
My 5-year-old granddaughter was scared by the 'bad nanny' (not in the movie) and unsettled by the Brimstone and Treacle reprise. She preferred the movie version with a kind nanny. Despite this, the experience ended well, but be prepared if you bring a younger child.
A quick note about seats for younger children: The best seats are in row AA at the very end, specifically seats 30 and 32 on the left side of the mezzanine. These seats provide a clear view, as there are no seats behind them. I initially had seats 26/28, but my granddaughter couldn't see over the railing even with a booster seat. However, when seats on the end were vacant, we moved over, and she had no issues standing up to see.
